Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is a remaster of the 2012 action-RPG that earned decent reviews but failed to generate much success from a commercial standpoint. The rights to the game were acquired by THQ Nordic back in 2018, after the conclusion of a long legal battle between the state of Rhode Island, Curt Schilling, and the now-defunct 38 Studios. The remaster reportedly needed EA’s blessing to exist, so it seems as though an agreement was reached....

The familiarity of King Dedede’s role begs the question of his future in the franchise. Dedede is a fun, charming Kirby character, but he seems to have the same experiences over and over again in the franchise. It may be time that HAL Laboratory looks at Dedede differently in a Kirby spinoff that stars him. Kirby may usually be the one defending the galaxy from supernatural threats, but a story about King Dedede could be a great change of pace....

The game’s defining feature is its inclusion of power combos. Normally, Kirby can eat his enemies and steal their abilities, but in Kirby 64, he can also throw a stolen ability at an enemy, combining that ability with the enemy’s as a mix of two different abilities. Although there are only seven abilities in the game, they can be combined in any pair, resulting in a total of 28 unique powers....
