Back in December, a short trailer giving players a first look at King of Fighters 15 was shown off, revealing a few classic characters in Kyo Kusanagi and Benimaru Nikaido, as well as the latest series protagonist Shun’ei from King of Fighters 14. Since that trailer dropped, SNK has been giving fans a steady drip of content to analyze, and it has now released a trailer for Meitenkun.

Meitenkun is part of “Team China,” as the King of Fighters franchise splits its characters into small stables from various countries around the world. Meitenkun is a sleepy boy who uses a pillow as a weapon to confound his opponents. The trailer shown is brief, but features a number of combos and specials that Meitenkun will be able to pull off.

A fun fact pointed out by a commenter on the trailer is that the Chinese reading of Meitenkun’s name literally means “sleepy everyday,” which is pretty clever given he certainly looks tired all the time. Right now there is no firm release date for King of Fighters 15 other than it being sometime this year, but the game will be bringing in Fatal Fury director Masami Obari to produce an animated short. The trailer also mentions that next week more info is coming, so plenty is going on for SNK fans.

King of Fighters 15 is slated for release sometime in 2021.
