Powered by Intel, the KFConsole is a bold and spicy new frontier for gaming. No more will fans have to choose between playing video games and having warm chicken. Clearly, the KFConsole is an invention everyone needed. And while the KFConsole is just a viral marketing stunt, Intel is adamant that it’s a real and fully functional product.

This marvel of engineering was announced on Twitter by Mark Walton, a member of Intel’s PR department. Cooler Master, a company specializing in high-end PC cooling systems, was responsible for the unique piece of hardware. Typically, Cooler Master’s products focus on absorbing or dispersing heat. Still, it was only a matter of time before it found a way to channel that heat into a useful purpose, though useful might be a strong word in this instance. Nonetheless, the company has channeled it for an amusing purpose.
For those thinking Cooler Master just crammed an oven in there, it’s a bit more complicated than that. Designed by Swedish hardware modder TimePlay, the console redirects heat from the CPU and other hardware directly into the specially designed chicken chamber.
As for the specs, the KFConsole is powered by an Intel Nuc 9 extreme compute element. Intel designed these mini-PC’s to be installed inside a larger gaming PC. However, stand-alone Nuc 9 PCs do exist and are reasonably powerful. Intel’s stand-alone “Ghost Canyon” Nuc 9 offers similar performance to many high-end gaming laptops. Augmenting the Nuc 9’s built-in hardware are two BarraCuda 1TB SSD cards and a swappable GPU. The KFConsole will come with an unspecified ASUS GPU out of the box.
Despite its amusing purpose, The KFConsole, assuming it launches, would likely be able to handle most modern AAA titles. Also, it has a heated compartment for the storage of fried chicken. The only question becomes how much customers are willing to pay for a clever gimmick.
KFC and Coolamster have yet to announce a release date for the KFConsole.
